We hope you get a good taste of what Kilkenny offers its citizens and<br \/>\nvisitors alike.<\/p>\n<p>We are thrilled to be emerging from\u00a0 the pandemic and our many volunteers\u00a0 now in full swing again encouraging our communities to get Kilkenny looking its best and embracing the many challenges that confront us , every one working together for the good of all the community.<\/p>\n<p>Taking part in the National Tidy towns competitions\u00a0 has given Kilkenny City the opportunity to show how committed we are in combating the global threats of Climate change and Biodiversity loss at a local level.<\/p>\n<p>During the pandemic we learned just how important access to nature and a healthy environment is for everyone and how blessed we are to have so many quality outdoor amenity areas on our doorstep.<\/p>\n<p>KKB are fully aware of this and many of our projects are about enhancing these areas and creating access to nature for all and in particular those in our communities who benefit most from access to nature as is demonstrated in our Fuchsia Biodiversity Well-being Project.<\/p>\n<p>also\u00a0 \u00a0have our\u00a0 annual\u00a0 tidy towns award night where we acknowledge the actions and achievements of our many communities, local authorities, business partners and the many individual champions who are taking positive action to make Kilkenny a more sustainable and beautiful place for people to<br \/>\nlive and visit.<\/p>\n<p>We are open to all and new members are welcome, why not contact us and become part of our fantastic voluntary team here in Kilkenny city. (three in a row) and again in 2019.\u00a0 Also\u00a0 national winner again\u00a0 autumn 2020 and\u00a0 2nd place in 2024.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>&#8211; \u00a0 \u00a0 National Tidy towns Gold Medal winners \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a02010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, (2020 no awards\u00a0 due to Covid), 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>\u00a0&#8211; \u00a0 \u00a0Overall winner : National Tidy Towns winner \u00a0 south east region award in 2013, 2014, 2018 and 2023<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>\u00a0&#8211; \u00a0 Overall winner : National Tidy Towns \u00a0award of &#8220;Large Urban Centre&#8221; in 2010, \u00a02011 and 2014.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>&#8211; \u00a0 Tourism towns overall national winner 2013 and \u00a0short list award winner in 2012, 2014 and 2015<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>&#8211; \u00a0 National representative in the Communities in Bloom International Challenge\u00a0competition\u00a0\u00a02015,\u00a0 Kamloops, Canada. \u00a0 Recipient of 5 Blooms Bronze.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Other important awards received \u00a0include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\">All Ireland Pollinator Plan local authority pollinator award under the large town category for the south-east of Ireland 2019.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\">National runner-up award under sustainable development for the River Nore walk 2019<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\">The Academy of Urbanism\u2019s European great Town award\u00a0 for \u00a0Kilkenny in 2008.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\">The Best Urban Park award for our river Nore Linear Park 2008.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\">National Tidy Towns\u00a0 Landscaping award for Rothe House \u00a0garden in 2008<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\">Newpark Marsh \u00a0was awarded the top award in the ESB\/CVI Community Environmental awards 2001 and the Marsh was also a national winner for Wildlife in the Tidy Towns Competition 2002.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Picture under:\u00a0 City Hall on High street.
