Great news for Kilkenny city\u00a0 and all who are\u00a0 working to keep Kilkenny beautiful.\u00a0<\/strong> Kilkenny has again achieved Cleaner than European Norms in IBAL 2022 round 1. \u00a0 \u00a0(Irish Business against Litter).\u00a0 See our\u00a0 adjudicators report under.<\/p>\n

Congratulations to Naas who have achieved\u00a0 No. 1 in the current Judging.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Kilkenny: 8th out of 40 towns \/ cities surveyed.<\/strong> Cleaner than European Norms.<\/em>
\nKilkenny is consistently high-ranking and this takes a lot of work on the part of many within <\/em>the community. All approach roads got the top litter grade, creating a positive first<\/em>
\nimpression. This high standard was maintained for many of the remaining sites surveyed, <\/em>including the Train Station (Exterior and Interior), the Riverside Walk and Parliament Street \u2013 <\/em>the latter scored well, despite plenty of activity within.<\/em><\/p>\n

N712 Paulstown Approach Road: Grade A.<\/strong> This route presented very well, creating a positive first <\/em>impression of Kilkenny with cycle paths, roadway and adjoining grasslands clear of litter. <\/em>Kilkenny Train Station \u2013 Exterior: Grade A. A very welcoming environment with colourful planting <\/em>and a virtual absence of litter throughout. The area could be further improved if cigarette butts <\/em>weren\u2019t allowed to gather at the base of the planted areas.<\/em>
\nKilkenny Train Station \u2013 Interior: Grade A.<\/strong> All aspects of the interior of the station were in pristine<\/em>condition e.g., seating, signage, litter bins, visitor information notices etc. There was a virtual <\/em>absence of litter throughout.<\/em><\/p>\n

Riverside Walk: Grade A.<\/strong> A wonderful riverside environment which is very well presented and <\/em>maintained. Planted areas were in good order and the overall impression created was a very positive <\/em>one.<\/em>
\nDerelict buildings at \u2018The Ring\u2019 beside Rothe House: Grade A<\/strong>. There was a notable<\/em>
\nimprovement in the overall presentation and litter situation at one of these buildings. A new coat of <\/em>paint has made a big difference here. This time around, there was minimal litter to be seen.<\/em><\/p>\n

Recycle Facility at St. Canice\u2019s; Grade B<\/strong>. Casually discarded litter \/ items associated with recycling <\/em>took away from an otherwise freshly presented \u2018Bring Facility\u2019. This could easily be top ranking with a <\/em>little extra care and attention.<\/em>
\nFriary Bridge, by City Walls: Grade B.<\/strong> The most obvious litter items were sweet papers and plastic <\/em>bags with lower levels of fast-food wrappers and cigarette butts.<\/em><\/p>\n

Parliament Street: Grade A<\/strong>. This busy shopping street has scored very well with regard to litter. it is <\/em>well served by litter bins and the overall presentation was a very good one.<\/em><\/p>\n

Bennetsbridge <\/em><\/strong>Approach Road: Grade A<\/strong>. There was a complete absence of litter along the <\/em>stretch of road surveyed. Grass boundaries had been carefully mown. It was an excellent site,<\/em>overall.<\/em><\/p>\n

Durrow Approach Road: Grade A<\/strong>. As with the other approach roads into Kilkenny, this was very<\/em>much deserving of the top litter grade. It was well presented and immaculate throughout.<\/em><\/p>\n
