Citizen Science Course for Ag Science Teachers
In 2022 KKB received funding to run one day Citizen Science Water Quality Testing Training Day. Twelve local Ag Science Teacher participated & each received full Water Quality Testing equipment to use in their classrooms with their students. This was so successful that KKB decided to commission a Teacher Resource to accompany training being carried out by teachers and this was developed by Education Leaders in the field, Veri Training. This resource owned by KKB is now free to download from KKB on request and can be used in conjunction with the one day training provided by Veri Training.
With this resource any Tidy Towns group can support their local schools to engage in this innovative training and help their teachers support students who are requesting this skill and knowledge.

Report on 2022 Ag Science Teachers
Keep Kilkenny Beautiful recently secured funding from LAWPRO to host training for educators. The course was conceptualised to enable 10 agricultural science teachers to support their students and to promote practical techniques to monitor water quality in agricultural fields.
All participating teachers attended the full-day training program held on Thursday, 20 July 2022. The participating teachers were able to re-visit basic concepts of water quality monitoring and its importance to supporting Biodiversity and healthy agriculture. They were able to apply the theoretical instructions with the equipment supplied to do chemical, biological and physical motor policy testing.
The benefits of this programme will extend into the younger generations of agricultural students. The teachers now have additional teaching tools and equipment to support their students in their practical research projects.
