Talbot’s Tower and visitor area conservation has been completed. it is now a wonderful place to visit. There are a number of interpretative displays also. Native planting has been selected to complement the seating areas. The tower was an important part of the medieval defensive walls of our City.
Looking for somewhere to go during Easter holidays? Why not check out one of Kilkenny cities newly reconstructed and conserved gems, Talbot’s tower, located on new street/ Ormonde road. This tower was built at the point where the south and west walls of Kilkenny met. It was probably built around 1260 and was designed to protect the city from attack. Its outward facing arrow loops and its stone roof can still be seen. the overall plan is to create a new city plaza adjacent to the tower and city walls. the marking of the city line walls project is also ongoing around the city.
