Kilkenny is tidiest Irish City in latest Ibal nationwide survey
The latest Ibal anti-litter survey places Kilkenny as the tidiest City in Ireland with a “Cleaner than European Norms” rating. Kilkenny came 2nd in Ireland in the overall rankings behind Cavan town.
“Congratulations to the citizens and local authority of Kilkenny – an excellent result – what is noticeable about Kilkenny and other very high ranking towns / cities is the great care that is taken in the overall presentation of the environment and it is not just about litter.
Free recycle collection at Cillin Hill, 28th September
The last Kilkenny City electrical collection for 2013 will take place on the 28th of Sept 2013 in Cillin Hill. Recycle your household electrical waste (WEEE) for free. Remember if you miss this date – you can bring your household electrical waste to Dunmore Recycling Centre free of charge all year around!

BREAKING NEWS! €3 MILLION TO BE INVESTED INTO THE SMITHWICK’S EXPERIENCE IN KILKENNY
Great news for the Kilkenny tourist sector today. Smithwick’s has announced a €3 million investment in a new, state of the art visitor experience at the Smithwick’s St. Francis Abbey Brewery.
Over the next nine months, the Victorian brewing building will be transformed into a state of the art interactive visitor centre that will allow you:
– Immerse in Ireland’s oldest beer brand using a sensory, tactile visitor experience.
– Teach you about the craft of brewing, the future and ultimately, taste the pint!
– Learn about the medieval origins of brewing on the site to the arrival of the amazing John Smithwick. Discover the Kilkenny-Smithwicks connections through the years with interactive installations bringing the story right up to date.

Monthly Meetings: first Tuesday of the month at 7.30pm,
Downstairs in the Pembroke Hotel, Patrick Street, Kilkenny.
FREE Admission
Talks and presentations from expert speakers, followed by question and answer sessions,
group discussions on topics of seasonal interest, sharing knowledge and experience.
All are welcome; newcomers, absolute beginners and experts alike, and the meetings are FREE.

Other activities during the year include garden and farm visits, meitheals, annual seedling swap and Savour festival demo.
