Ducking and diving in the Kilkenny summer sun.
Well done to Kilkenny Sub Aqua Club
The Sub Aqua Club did more than their fair share of helping keep their city beautiful with a huge effort from their members in cleaning up the river Nore during the week. Our river Nore is one of our city’s amazing resources and this group of dedicated volunteers collected much as a result of others not appreciating it. Throwing rubbish in the river does not make it disappear!!!!!!
Kilkenny County Council think outside the box again………….with pretty results
The planting of the link road roundabout, connecting to the motorway, has been completed with over 4,000 herbaceous perennials and grasses. This is one of the largest sustainable roundabout planting schemes in the country. This pilot project is being carried out as a new approach to roundabout management. Once established it will be less maintenance intensive and will not require replanting year on year as is the current practice with bedding. It will take a couple of weeks to settle in and some hot weather to flower but hopefully will look well in time for Tidy Towns judging.
Spruce for Bruce
Be part of the big “Spruce for Bruce”! In late July many extra eyes will be ón Kilkenny as Bruce Springsteen finishes his world tour in Nolan Park. We want to ensure that our city is highlighted in the best possible light so the County Council is offering a draw prize of 2 FREE TICKETS . How do you win this amazing prize????? Simply help out at any of the KKB Clean-Ups, sign the sheet, and you are entered. The more clean-ups that you help out at the more times your name will be entered. If you are not in you can’t win!
Last Saturday the volunteers who turned up at the Circular Road clean-up were entered. A fantastic job was done by all.

Well done to St. Johns Junior School
Great Work in St. Johns Junior School. KKB arrived with a group of volunteers to assist with the tree planting on Saturday morning. However the school under the guidance of the caretaker Peter Novak had already successfully planted all but one. Some older trees still need to be removed and KKB has offered to return and assist with future tree planting once these have been taken out to help . Brilliant work St. Johns!
