Kilkenny Chamber is blooming great!

The City in Bloom project has taken off. Kilkenny Chamber are partners with  the KKB in our  City’s 2010 Tidy Towns Competition programme.

City Court house quarter development reaches completion

Kilkenny City authorities and the OPW are to be complemented on  the major renovation works undertaken  at Kilkenny courthouse located on Parliament st Kilkenny.  A New public space has been completed in the city core as part of the works diagonally opposite  the historic Rothe house. The building was originally the  13th-century Grace’s Castle, which was given to city in 1568.  It  then  became the County Gaol,  continuing  to serve as a  gaol until the 18th century, when it was converted to  courthouse use. This use continues up to the present day.

City “ goal posts” become a thing of the past.

Consultations between the KKB and the City authorities  have successfully concluded with the removal during the last week  of the city’s unsightly High street traffic restriction barriers.  KKB secretary   Elaine Bradshaw complemented the City authorities on the major improvement this has already made at the main High street portals and the enhancement of the city centre core for its citizens.

Smithwicks Brewery enhances river Nore Wildlife refuge

Smithwick Brewery, working in cooperation with the KKB, Bird watch Ireland and the City parks Department continues with the development of the city centre river Nore wildlife refuge. The completed river side tree planting, bird boxes and habitat is being enhanced by the recently launched floating bird lander. The river Nore ”left bank” is becoming an important wild life refuge and forms part of the river Nore and Breagagh linear  park.
