Kilkenny Clean to European norms in 2012 IBAL survey.
Kilkenny City has been awarded “Clean to European Norms” designation in the latest IBAL review issued on the 9th January 2012.
Mr Sean Leahy KKB chairman complements all in the City who have worked to achieve this award during 2011.
Flower displays in city
There are many beautiful flower displays in Kilkenny this year. The City parks department continue to provide new and vibrant displays of great colour.
“Don’t Rubbish our Heritage” anti litter week 2010 in Kilkenny
An anti litter week titled “Don’t Rubbish our Heritage” took place in Kilkenny City as part of Heritage Week 2010.
On Thursday the 26th of August the Kilkenny City dog mascot handed out HSE information leaflets and pooper scoopers to dog walkers along the Canal and Castle Parade. the aim was to educate dog owners in relation to the importance of the responsible disposal of Dog waste.
On Friday 27th of August we had extra cleaning help from Sheamus an enthusiastic street cleaner and his fox. Old and young alike were beguiled by the smart fox and silver tongued street cleaner. We thank Bui Bolg street performers who circulated High Street and St Kieran Street highlighting the importance of not throwing rubbish on the street and not stubbing cigarettes.
Kilkenny City gardening excellence
The City gardeners have presented a wonderful range of colourful flower displays through out the City. It is a delight to walk through our medieval streets and enjoy the blooms !
City “ goal posts” become a thing of the past.
Consultations between the KKB and the City authorities have successfully concluded with the removal during the last week of the city’s unsightly High street traffic restriction barriers. KKB secretary Elaine Bradshaw complemented the City authorities on the major improvement this has already made at the main High street portals and the enhancement of the city centre core for its citizens.
