
Winner of the best garden in St Mary’s parish and also overall city winner in Kilkenny City in 2013 Catherine Duffy, Fr Delahunty Place
St Patrick’s Parish wins Best Tidy Towns Parish in Kilkenny award 2013 at the annual Tidy Towns Awards ceremony which took place at Hotel Kilkenny.
The award of best garden in Kilkenny city went to Catherine Duffy, No.9 Fr Delahunty Place, St Mary’s Parish.
The best small estate in Kilkenny was won by Glendine Court, Glendine road, St Johns Parish.
The best large estate in Kilkenny was won by The Sycamores and Aylesbury, St Canice’s Parish.
Kilkenny City has performed very strongly in the 2013 National Tidy Towns competition. Presentations took place in Dublin on the 9th September 2013. Receiving a total of 313 marks, Kilkenny was placed just 3 marks behind the overall National Tidy Town winner Moynalty, Co Meath. Chairman David Fitzgerald complemented the hard work and commitment of the Citizens of Kilkenny, City Authorities and the many Voluntary Organisations in achieving such a result for Kilkenny City.

The latest Ibal anti-litter survey places Kilkenny as the tidiest City in Ireland with a “Cleaner than European Norms” rating. Kilkenny came 2nd in Ireland in the overall rankings behind Cavan town.
“Congratulations to the citizens and local authority of Kilkenny – an excellent result – what is noticeable about Kilkenny and other very high ranking towns / cities is the great care that is taken in the overall presentation of the environment and it is not just about litter.
