KKB congratulates CBS students on their Website

The Tidy Towns competition is about everyone taking an interest and  pride in their own place by not just words but actions.  A major part of this is demonstrating what it is we are trying to protect from buildings to wildlife.   KKB would like to congratulate 3 CBS students who have designed an amazing website aimed at promoting wildlife to primary and secondary students in a unique and informative way.

Generous  sponsorship of Bulbs  by Woodies  has  facilitated the distribution by the KKB of  a colorful range of flowering  bulbs to primary and secondary Schools and other groups  throughout our City and County.

These included St Patrick’s boys school, John of God, St Canice’s, St John’s senior, Kilkenny College, the Model school,  the City  Vocational School on New street and the SOS on the Callan Rd.

The KKB  also cooperates with Tidy town’s committees  through out County  Kilkenny. Flowering  bulbs were  distributed by the KKB in January   to Goresbridge, Thomastown, Coon, Urlingford and Inistoge Tidy Towns Committees to help give spring and summer colour.

St Maul’s Graveyard restoration & Biodiversity Project

February saw the completion of the first phase of the restoration and biodiversity project taking place at St Maul’s Graveyard.  It overlooks the river Nore  and has many historic graves.  The work of initial cutting and cleaning has been completed. Further work will follow to include improving  access. There is an extensive area of trees with good cover for wild life.
