Fishing on the river Nore
The river Nore flows through the centre of Kilkenny forming an attractive river wildlife and green area. There are a number of weirs and rock water falls which provides an attractive fishing area for our birds! There are a number of grey herons living and feeding along the river Nore in the area of the City.
River Nore Board walk officially opened.
An extensive new river Nore board walk has opened for use. It is now possible to walk down the Canal walk from Canal square, cross Ossory Bridge and return along the new Lacken Board walk back to the City Centre. This major development enhances the extensive amenities already available along the river Nore in both the Greens Bridge and Ossory bridge directions.
Kilkenny Aqua Canoe Club cares for River Nore
Kilkenny Aqua Canoe Club (KACC) members went to work on cleaning the river bank from Greens Bridge to weir at the County Council at the end of January and collected some eight black bags of rubbish along with a TV and life buoys. Earlier in the month a further 13 life buoys were collected on the river between Kilkenny and Bennettsbridge, these have since been returned to the County Council. The KKB compliment the KACC for their continued support and for their dedication and interest in protecting and enhancing the wonderful river amenity which we have right through Kilkenny City
