The official Launch of the National Spring Clean campaign took place at the Loughboy recycling bottle bank in Kilkenny. New black and amber litter clean up bags have also been produced for 2013.

Kilkenny is Cleanest City in Ibal 2012
Kilkenny is celebrating success in the latest Ibal report which gives Kilkenny the status of cleanest City in Ireland. “Cleaner than European Norms”. Overall Kilkenny came 2nd in the country with Cavan achieving the No.1 spot.
KKB Chairman Sean Leahy praised the efforts of the City Authorities, voluntary groups and the citizens of Kilkenny for their great efforts in the area of litter reduction in 2012.
Fishing on the river Nore
The river Nore flows through the centre of Kilkenny forming an attractive river wildlife and green area. There are a number of weirs and rock water falls which provides an attractive fishing area for our birds! There are a number of grey herons living and feeding along the river Nore in the area of the City.

Kilkenny Clean to European norms in 2012 IBAL survey.
Kilkenny City has been awarded “Clean to European Norms” designation in the latest IBAL review issued on the 9th January 2012.
Mr Sean Leahy KKB chairman complements all in the City who have worked to achieve this award during 2011.

Mayor’s Massive Clean up 2011
Our Newly installed City Mayor David Fitzgerald has hit the ground running! Saturday June 25th at 10am the Mayor’s Massive clean up commences.! All volunteers and community groups and KKB members should meet at the Watershed, where high visibility jackets and cleaning utensils shall be distributed. groups will be dispatched to all areas of the city for a 1.5 hour city wide community clean up.
Participants in the Mayor’s massive clean up will be in with a chance to win a spot prize, while also helping their community.
All are welcome, come and assist in winning the overall Tidy towns Award title for Kilkenny this year.
National Spring Clean Launch 2011
KKB has launched the National Spring Clean campaign 2011 with all of the city stakeholders.
A major clean up campaign has already commenced through out our City. Regular clean ups are being organised by the KKB in conjunction with local residential and community groups.
All groups who require assistance or support in relation to organising their own clean ups can contact the KKB for advice and help. The KKB also thank the large number of volunteers on our clean up Kilkenny text list who respond to our regular calls for assistance.
