Bulb planting season in full swing

Bulb planting in the autumn, we look forward to spring colour! This forms part of our annual  planting each year giving  colour on an ongoing basis.  Areas with  many  bulbs are also thinned out directly after flowering, dried out and stored  and  the bulbs are then recycled into  new areas in the Autumn.

The earthworms  are near the surface and are disturbed as we do the bulb planting, the ground is quite damp after a lot of rain. (see 1 Euro coin for scale).  Worms are very important for the health of the earth.

Autumn Bulb planting

Keep Kilkenny Beautiful has distributed a large number of bulbs for autumn planting by resident associations  through out Kilkenny. We look forward to the added colour  in Spring 2017.

Colourful bulbs being planted for everyone in our City

To celebrate the Launch  of our 2013 New Year Tidy towns campaign the   KKB are currently working with volunteers from many of our City’s over  70 resident associations to complete the planting of some  25,000 bulbs   throughout our City.  A bulb for each of our citizens. In the spring as the colorful flowers bloom we will be  able to  see the fruit  of the  extensive planting which has been undertaken over the  the last few months. these include  many  Daffodils, Tulips, Iris, Anemone,  Dahlias  and Crocus.

There is still some late planting underway.  If your Kilkenny City  Residents association wants to help  contact us at info@keepkilkennybeautiful.com
